Mthatha Student Accommodation
Walter Sisulu University is a landmark institution both in the Eastern Cape and in the South African tertiary context. Adowa is developing an equally epic 4 floor student accommodation building located a safe walking distance of 1.8km from the iconic university. The Southernwood Student Village building is one of the newest buildings in the Mthata area in the last 10 years and boasts the signature modern design and façade of the Adowa brand. The building is to be home to 718 students living in apartment units that combine single and two-sharing rooms with 8 to 10 students forming a “family unit” of mixed junior and senior students. Each bedroom will have sufficient cupboard space for each student, a desk and chair for studying and an electric wall heater. Two sharing rooms will have a middle partition that will give each privacy. Much like most Adowa properties Southernwood Student Village is a self-catering accommodation. The kitchen will be fully equipped with a refrigerator, a microwave, and a four-plate electric stove. Students will be provided with individual lockers for cupboard space, allowing for secure storage. Most importantly, the communal kitchens together with other communal areas throughout the building will emphasise the Adowa theme of community.
